Apolipoprotein A1 (Apo A1) is a protein component of high-density lipoprotein (HDL) particles, often referred to as the "good cholesterol."

It plays a crucial role in lipid metabolism by facilitating the transport of cholesterol from peripheral tissues back to the liver for excretion, a process known as reverse cholesterol transport.

High levels of apo A1 are associated with a lower risk of cardiovascular disease, as HDL particles help remove excess cholesterol from the bloodstream, thereby reducing the buildup of plaque in the arteries.
