HDL (High-Density Lipoprotein) Cholesterol is often referred to as "good" cholesterol because it helps remove excess cholesterol from the bloodstream, transporting it to the liver for disposal.

High levels of HDL cholesterol are associated with a reduced risk of heart disease and atherosclerosis, as it helps prevent the buildup of plaque in the arteries.

Low levels of HDL cholesterol, on the other hand, may increase the risk of heart disease and other cardiovascular complications.
